BCP Council Apprenticeship Opportunities
Fixed Term Contracts
Opportunities have arisen for six Horticultural Apprenticeships and one Arboricultural Apprenticeship based in multiple sites around Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole, managed by the Environment Service Unit in BCP Council.
The Horticultural Apprenticeship will cover many aspects of horticulture including ornamental shrub borders, bedding, nursery plant production, grounds maintenance machinery usage, golf course grounds maintenance, sports pitch maintenance, fine turf maintenance, wildflower meadows, woodland management and more.
The Arboricultural Apprenticeship will cover aspects of arboriculture including chainsaw operations, visual tree assessments, planting and aftercare of woody plants, woodland management, ecology and more.
Successful applicants will be expected to undertake a Work Based Level 2 course in Horticulture / Arboriculture at Kingston Maurward College and attend college once per week during term times.
Applicants must have Maths and English GCSE qualifications minimum D/3 Grade.
Apprenticeships are likely to last around 24 months.
Applicants must have a keen interest in horticulture or arboriculture, be enthusiastic, conscientious and keen to learn.
