Following a recent promotion, we have an excellent opportunity for an energetic accountant to join our Finance Team. We can offer hybrid working with the greater proportion possible from home.
Role Purpose for Accountant Level 2 – within our corporate accounting team.
The purpose of the role is to perform a range of professional accounting activities and provide financial advice and guidance to support the Finance Manager in delivering a comprehensive financial accounting, management accounting and advisory service to a business or corporate area of the council.
Main Responsibilities
The role includes undertaking day to day treasury management activities to ensure cash flow is maintained to support operations, ensure timely completion of key corporate control accounts including payroll and Council tax, and providing management accounting support to the property team in relation to investment properties.
The role reports to a Finance Manager, and supports senior accountants in their liaison with officers and budget holders.
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate would be someone qualified at AAT level and studying towards an accountancy qualification and looking for the next step in their career. A background in local government would be an advantage plus experience supporting a large and complex organisation and including some experience of business partnering.

As a result of the creation of BCP Council in 2019, we are working on simplifying our terms and conditions of service and will be creating a single pay structure which is to be applicable for all employees.
