Role Purpose
BCP Council has an ambitious investment strategy and aspiration to make our area a place where residents, visitors and businesses thrive. We are looking for qualified accountant with financial acumen and professional skills to help us realise these opportunities, against the backdrop of an increasingly challenging economic environment.
We have 3 excellent opportunities for qualified accountants to join our Finance Team at Accountant Level 3.
Main Responsibilities
Capital role 1 - to lead on accounting and monitoring for the Council's 5-year £285 million capital programme as well as working alongside project managers in putting forward viable business cases.
Capital role 2 - to support the council’s major capital projects including the Towns Fund and regeneration activities.
Children Social Care role - to provide business partnering support for social care directors within Children's Services.
These roles will report to a Finance Manager. In liaison with senior officers and budget holders, your work will include budget setting, monitoring, and reporting, supporting external grant bids, project work and providing general financial advice and support.
The Ideal Candidate
In addition to being a fully qualified accountant, with strong technical skills ideally developed from a local government background in a capital expenditure role or demand led service area, you will have sound business partnering skills and the ability to support a complex service area.

As a result of the creation of BCP Council in 2019, we are working on simplifying our terms and conditions of service and will be creating a single pay structure which is to be applicable for all employees. It is important to us that we offer benefits that our colleagues value as part of their total employment package and we are reviewing these to make sure we have it right. We are in the process of establishing a timescale for implementation and colleagues joining us will be included in these changes. This is expected to be in place in 2024.
