Accounts Payable Apprenticeship (AAT level 2 qualification)

Job Introduction

We have a new and exciting apprenticeship opportunity within our Accounts Payable team. In this role you will be responsible for helping the team process and pay all Council invoices in a timely and efficient manner. You will work closely with the team and colleagues across the organisation to make sure services are correctly invoiced for. You will also liaise directly with suppliers to help answer queries and solve problems to remove any delays in payment.

Main Responsibilities

  • Process all received post, e-mails, scanned invoices and other electronic invoices, ensuring their compliance, and matching with the correct purchase orders, values, dates and invoice numbers.
  • Ensuring that all Creditors invoices are processed in a timely fashion allowing payment to occur on time and in line with Suppliers Payment terms.
  • Ensuring data entry integrity into the financial management system in order to provide accurate and reliable information for payments.
  • To recognise issues and use initiative to identify and resolve and/or discuss proposed solutions with line manager.

The Ideal Candidate

We’re looking for someone with excellent communication skills, good IT skills, good attention to detail, enthusiasm and an eagerness to learn

Please note, in order to qualify for apprenticeship funding, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Hold a GCSE level C / equivalent in Maths and English and be able to present original qualification certificates - if you do not hold these qualifications / certificates you must be committed to complete these via functional skills assessments as part of the apprenticeship.
  • Only apply for an apprenticeship unrelated to any qualifications they hold at the same or higher level than the apprenticeship they wish to apply for. The apprenticeship being applied for must be unrelated in subject and content from the qualification already held.
  • Not be enrolled on another funded apprenticeship or another funded further education or higher education programme at the time you start your new apprenticeship

The training you will be getting (Day release at Bournemouth & Poole College)

  • Accounts/Finance Assistant level 2 apprenticeship
  • AAT level 2 qualification

Our apprenticeships are offered on a minimum contract duration of 12 months (up to 18 months), offer 25 days paid annual leave, day release to college, access to our online staff benefits portal including discounts at local and national shops, restaurants and attractions, and a starting salary of £19,435 per annum.  We also offer the flexability of working from the office or from your own home.
