Every young person carries a story – often one filled with challenges, setbacks, and moments when education seemed out of reach. We believe every student deserves not only a second chance, but a fresh start, built on compassion, understanding, and belief in their potential.
We are looking for an Art Teacher who can see beyond the canvas, who believes that every brushstroke has the potential to heal, to empower, and to inspire. Our students are amazing young people navigating complex social, emotional and mental health challenges that have, at times, excluded them from mainstream education. Here, we give them space to breathe, to learn, to grow – and you will be a vital part of that journey.
The role: more than just teaching art…
You will lead small groups (around 7 students) of KS4 learners, supporting them to achieve at least a Level 1 BTEC in Art. But this is not your typical teaching role. Our students need more than a teacher – they need a mentor, a champion, a calm and consistent adult who believes in them when they may struggle to believe in themselves.
Each week you will work intensively with two small groups, spending meaningful time building relationships, adapting learning, and fostering trust. You will give them confidence, voice, expression, and moments of pride they may never have felt before. You’ll be their teacher, but you’ll also be one of the most significant adults in their lives – one who never gives up on them, even when the path is hard.

- You bring flexibility, creativity and resilience in equal measure.
- You know that progress isn’t always linear – but every step matters.
- You understand that a good day might not always be measured by academic outcomes.
- You are patient, empathetic, and ready to celebrate every small victory.
- You may have experience with SEMH needs, therapeutic approaches, or alternative provision – but equally, you may simply have the right mindset and a willingness to learn.
- You value approaches such as PACE, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Growth Mindset, Restorative Practices and Unconditional Positive Regard – or you’re open to developing these skills.
- Whether you’re an experienced teacher, newly qualified, from primary, middle or secondary – if you’re ready for a different kind of teaching, we’d love to hear from you.
