Assistant Care Manager (Part time 26h)

Job Introduction

From 1 December 2025, our refreshed Pay and Reward package comes into effect, bringing a new approach to how we recognise and reward roles across the Council. This means the salary for this role will be changing. The pay range for this role will be £33,699 to £39,152 (pro rata for part time colleagues) from 1 December 2025.

What you can expect to be doing:

You will be undertaking comprehensive assessments focusing on the needs of BCP residents over the age of 18 and CarersYou will be required to work with people who have Long Term Conditions,  older people, families, groups and communities to enable optimal outcomes which promote social welfare and inclusion. 

You will support and enable people to minimise dependence and maximise independence through strength based, self-directed support. You will be working alongside qualified social workers and occupational therapists as well as our commissioned providers

You will be responsible in managing your own workloads, alongside working closely which the Intake team. Work will involve entail visiting residents within their own homes, care home environments and hospitals. You will be working closely with our health partners and other provider organisations.


What we’re looking for:

Applicants must have recent experience of working within Adult Social Care or similar agency, involving direct contact with members of the public

You will have an understanding of the social and legal context within which social care services are delivered.

You will be able to demonstrate excellent communications skills, advocating for adults to assist them to achieve their outcomes, including signposting and providing information and advice.

You will be a quick learner, comfortable adapting to a fast-paced work environment and able to follow established processes and procedures efficiently. Your ability to quickly grasp new information and procedures will ensure you can contribute effectively from the outset.


A bit about the Team:

You will work as part of a team that sits within the Adult Social Care Hub to deliver the best possible service to our customers and promote their well-being

We have regular team meetings, supervision, and a well-established culture of peer support/learning within the team. 

In addition, we offer opportunities for professional development, including access to social work training programmes and ongoing learning initiatives. These are designed to support your career progression and help you stay up to date with best practices and legislative changes within adult social care. You will have the chance to participate in structured learning, gain relevant qualifications, and benefit from mentoring by experienced colleagues.

We have modern working practices that help colleagues to do their jobs in the best location for the service whilst at the same time allowing them to balance work and life demands. We use technology to work in a hybrid way – mixing working from modern hubs across the BCP area, with community visits and working from home. BCP Council also invests in the well-being of staff with an employee assistance program, social groups and inclusive working environment.
