Best Interest Assessor

Please Note: The application deadline for this job has now passed.

Job Introduction

Role Purpose

This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified Best Interest Assessor to join BCP Council's Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) team on a permanent basis.  Given the delay in the implementation of the Liberty Protection Safeguards, we are focussing on developing our DoLS Service.  This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of the transformation to ensure we are providing quality services to our residents

The Ideal Candidate

You must hold a university accredited Best Interest Assessor qualification, and ideally you will have experience of undertaking DoLS assessments.  If successful, you will join a creative and highly motivated team of practitioners and managers who work positively to promote the human rights of adults across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole.  We would welcome applications from Occupational Therapists, Nurses, Psychologists and Social Workers who hold the relevant Best Interest Assessor qualification.

Main Responsibilities

You will be undertaking assessments under the DoLS legislation, contributing to our Duty Service; triaging referrals, and providing support and guidance around DoLS and the MCA to practitioners in the BCP area.  You will have the opportunity to contribute to the running and delivery of MCA forums and will have regular supervision.  The team currently has a hybrid model of working.  Assessments are undertaken face to face mainly within the BCP area, and the office location is BCP Civic Centre in Bournemouth town centre.

For an informal discussion, please contact Esther Donald, MCA and DoLS Service Manager: esther.donald@bcpcouncil.gov.uk or 01202 127031

Proposed interview dates are 26th and 27th March 2025 and will be held in person in BCP Civic Centre, Bournemouth.
