Job Introduction
The Role
From regenerating Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole, to launching campaigns to keep our communities safe – here at BCP Council we’ve got ambitious plans for our region and a great story. And it’s yours to tell.
We’re looking for a Communications and Campaigns Officer to deliver tactical and operational communications across our services. That could be writing press releases, creating content for social media or working directly with journalists.
The role focuses on the roll out of South east Dorset’s Transforming Cities Fund (TCF) programme which is building a multi-million-pound network of new cycle and walking routes and bus improvements across the region, connecting major housing, employment, education and retail centres. It’s part of BCP Council’s Transforming Travel initiative to transform local travel, reduce road congestion and greenhouse gas emissions, improve air quality and bring economic and health benefits.
We’re looking for an enthusiastic communications, PR or marketing professional with a passion for improving the lives of our residents and making BCP Council a modern, accessible council. You’ll be able to create engaging, creative content across a range of channels and bring fresh ideas to the team. You’ll also be able to measure the impact you are having and prove that our communications work is making a difference.
If you’re looking to develop your communications skills, then this is the role for you. You’ll be part of a collaborative team that shares ideas and supports each other. So, if you are keen on joining this exciting, forward-thinking organisation and taking the next step in your career, then please apply.
You’ll be based in the vibrant coastal towns of Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole and have access to all the area has to offer – from beautiful beaches and wild places, to cultural highlights and a thriving urban social scene. We’re open to flexible working arrangements and operate a hybrid working environment, with an office at Bournemouth Civic Centre.

As a result of the creation of BCP Council in 2019, we are working on simplifying our terms and conditions of service and will be creating a single pay structure which is to be applicable for all employees. It is important to us that we offer benefits that our colleagues value as part of their total employment package and we are reviewing these to make sure we have it right. We are in the process of establishing a timescale for implementation and colleagues joining us will be included in these changes. This is expected to be in place in 2024.
