Main Responsibilities
We are recruiting for a Community Safety Analyst to support the Council’s Community Safety Team and the BCP Community Safety Partnership with delivery of strategic reports through the gathering, analysing and summarising of crime, offender, victim, demographic and related data from a variety of sources including crime reports, census and data from other agencies. You will support the Community Safety Manager and Community Safety Team Leader across a range of work including the Strategic Assessment of Crime and Disorder on behalf of the Community Safety Partnership.
You will be expected to efficiently analyse trends and relationships between different entities to establish an evidence-based approach to community safety with the intention of identifying intervention points, information gaps and further information requirements to facilitate the disruption of crime and disorder activities in the locality. The work required will include information gathering from a wide variety of internal and external sources relating to committed crime, criminal intelligence policing activities and law enforcement matters in order to produce high quality analytical products.
You will prepare clear and accurate research reports and briefing papers for partners, directors and senior managers relating to crime and disorder, including recommendations to inform decision making in relation to the tasking and deployment of operational resources by senior managers and partners.
You will be part of the team responsible for the development of the annual strategic assessment in relation to community safety and public protection based on maximising analysis of a broad range of information and data sets.
The Ideal Candidate
To carry out this role, you will need to have worked in a similar capacity and have experience of tackling crime and disorder issues. You will need a good level of IT literacy, be familiar with the Microsoft suite including MS Teams, Excel and Outlook, be able to use analytical software (databases and GIS) and be competent in the handling of mass dataset. You will also be familiar with and support compliance with GDPR and responsible data-handling processes. The successful candidate must have great interpersonal skills, be innovative, dynamic, a confident presenter and able to prioritise their own workload.
Members of the Team are currently working on a hybrid basis, working flexible hours. The option is available to work from BCP Civic Centre, where ‘hot desking’ operates. Applicants should note that they may be required to work from the Civic, or other locations in the relevant Council area on occasions and when required.
You will possess a relevant HND Level qualification or equivalent, or be able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills and proven experience in the provision of research and analysis products on a timely basis. Police vetting will be required to access relevant police information systems.
