Two Family Support Practitioners in the Fostering Service
Family Support Practitioner
Role Purpose:
Undertaking direct work and interventions with children, young people and their carers both independently and alongside social workers within the Childcare Teams.
Main Responsibilities:
- The core functions of the role will be that of the Family Support Worker (see attached)
- The post is based in the Fostering & Adolescence team so ideally looking for experience and/or a passion in working with teenagers.
- Will need to be flexible to support placement stability, which may involve some evening and weekend work.
- Have a working knowledge of PACE and Attachment Style parenting which underpin practice in the Fostering Service.
Family Support Practitioner – Training and Development
Role Purpose:
- Supporting the continued development of our training portfolio, to deliver specialised, targeted training that meets the needs of an ever-expanding cohort of carers who have a diverse range of children and young people in placement, ensuring that they feel supported and that they have the skills needed to manage a variety of needs and challenges.
- To manage forums, support groups, carer activities and socials which reduces isolation for carers, strengthens resilience and placement stability for children in their care.
Main responsibilities:
- The core functions of the role will be that of the Family Support Worker (see attached).
- Provide one to one training and workshops to carers with additional needs and requirements.
- Responsible for tracking carer’s training records and reporting on compliance with training requirement.
- Offer support and guidance to carers.
- Develop a range of social and support events for the fostering community.
- Will need to be flexible in order to support placement stability, which may involve some evening and weekend work.
- Will need to be confident in using Microsoft Excel
