Are you passionate about supporting students to access their education? Are you an excellent practitioner who recognises individual needs and responds creatively to ensure appropriate support is in place? Do you believe that pupil wellbeing should be embedded within their educational offer, and that this can be achieved through having a committed and passionate advocate as part of their team?

We are exceptionally proud of our Resource Base, which provides supported education for up to 10 young people. This provision enables students to access a mainstream education where, without this support, they may not otherwise be able to do so. We are deeply committed to inclusivity and to making meaningful adaptations that allow every student to thrive.

We are seeking to appoint a dedicated and motivated member of staff to work alongside and support our Gateway (Resource Base) Manager in achieving these aims. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference to the lives and educational experiences of our students.

This role is unique in that you will support a small and specific group of students with ASD and/or Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. The provision is based in a dedicated setting slightly separate from the main academy building, but located on the same site, with the clear aim of reintroducing students to education in a way that meets their individual needs.

This bespoke offer is unique to our school and plays a vital role in supporting our most vulnerable students, enabling them to re‑engage, rebuild confidence, and progress towards successful participation in mainstream education.

 You will:

  • Support the day‑to‑day coordination and organisation of students within the provision, using strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Deliver lessons under the direction of the SEN Resource Manager, demonstrating effective classroom management and a consistent, nurturing approach.
  • Develop, organise, and deliver targeted programmes of support in collaboration with the SEN Resource Manager and SENDCo, including interventions focused on social skills and emotional literacy.
  • Bring experience of working with students with special educational needs, particularly those with ASD and Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with parents and carers to support close, collaborative working.
  • Work effectively with a range of professionals, including support staff, outreach services, agencies, and partner schools, to promote student safety, wellbeing, and progress.
  • Use Microsoft IT applications confidently and maintain accurate, up‑to‑date records to evidence student support, engagement, and progress.
  • Demonstrate a calm, patient, and approachable manner when working with students and colleagues.
  • Be creative, consistent, and aspirational in your practice, maintaining high standards and supporting students to achieve positive outcomes for wellbeing, personal development, and academic success.
  • Work closely with careers staff to ensure Year 11 students have secure and appropriate post‑16 pathways.
  • Promote inclusivity and integration between the Resource Base and the main academy, working collaboratively as part of the wider school team and contributing to whole‑school initiatives.
  • Contribute directly to improving the progress, wellbeing, and academic outcomes of our students.
  • Support the development and consistent implementation of the school’s safeguarding, behaviour, and anti‑bullying policies to promote a safe and supportive learning environment.
  • Help students to develop strategies to self‑regulate their behaviour and build positive relationships.
  • Work as part of a child‑centred, supportive team that is committed to transforming young people’s lives through care, education, and advocacy.
  • Have previous experience in a school setting
