HR Adviser

Job Introduction

We have fantastic opportunity for an HR Adviser to join our team at a time of change and rejuvenation.

In this role of HR Adviser you will work directly with the Head of People and Organisational Development to support the delivery of both the People Strategy and act as day to day support for our services.

You will provide advice and support to managers in local services to ensure they follow HR policy and procedures and adhere to employment law.  You will work as part of a proactive, positive and supportive HR team providing robust advice in line with best practice.

Key responsibilities will include: 

  • To build and maintain strong relationships with managers, internal and external stakeholders, including recognised unions, and gaining knowledge of the services in order to frame advice. 
  • To action case work including capability, conduct, grievance and attendance management as directed.
  • To coach, advise, support, and develop managers in people management matters including managing performance, grievance process, conduct issues, attendance management and wellbeing issues.
  • To work with the Head of People and Organisational Development and the HR team to ensure policies and procedures are up to date.
  • To act as an advocate for organisational change, providing support to managers seeking to identify and implement service improvements.
  • To support with the recruitment process as and when required.
  • To maintain an up-to-date awareness of the wider external climate to identify relevant new government policy, demographic, economic and other social issues.

Skills and experience required: 

  • Proven experience in a similar role at a similar level.
  • CIPD qualified.
  • An understanding of HR policies and procedures and their application.
  • Up to date knowledge of employment law and HR best practice.
  • IT literate with good knowledge of Microsoft packages.
  • Effective interpersonal skills (written, spoken and presentation).
  • Comfortable dealing with multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
