Job Introduction
The Royal Motor Yacht Club Website
Bring order and warmth to the heart of a distinguished private members’ club.
The Royal Motor Yacht Club is one of the South Coast’s most established private members’ clubs, with a proud heritage and a community of members who value good service and a personal touch. Behind the scenes, our Haven and Yard office is where much of that service quietly happens, and we’re looking for the organised, personable administrator who keeps it running beautifully.
This is a role for someone who takes pride in looking after people. You’ll be a familiar, friendly point of contact for members, visitors and contractors, by phone, by email and in person, making sure every request is handled promptly and properly. When the yard team is out on the water or working in the boatyard, you’re the calm, capable presence keeping the office in good order and using your initiative to keep things moving.
A typical week might see you
- Looking after members, visitors and contractors, always with a courteous, helpful manner
- Logging boat storage and job requests, and keeping the berth, delivery and job diaries up to date
- Issuing keys and managing the sign-in book, so we always know who’s on site and why
- Keeping insurance and compliance records in good order, and chasing renewals and missing documents
- Administering paddleboard and dinghy hire, and ordering the supplies the yard team needs
No two days are quite the same, and few offices come with a working harbour on the doorstep.
You’ll be a great fit if you have
- Experience in an administrative or office-based role, dealing with customers or members by phone, email and in person
- A confident, courteous manner and the discretion a members’ club calls for
- First-class organisation, with the knack of juggling competing requests without dropping any
- Accurate record-keeping and a good eye for detail
- Confidence with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word and Excel), and the initiative to work unsupervised
- A friendly, reliable, security-conscious approach — particularly when handling keys and confidential member information
Even better if you also bring
- Experience in a marina, boatyard, sailing club or similar marine environment, or a basic knowledge of boats and boating terminology
- Experience raising purchase orders or job paperwork for a finance or accounts team
- Familiarity with booking or diary management systems
