BCP Council is looking for candidates interested in a career in Highway Maintenance and Construction. You will join a supportive, experienced, and progressive Highway Maintenance and Construction team, working across the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole area.
Candidates must require a passion to be involved in all aspects of Highway operations, gaining skills and experience whilst assisting in the improvement and maintenance of our Highways Infrastructure.
You will work from one of our operational depots, delivering on-site highway construction, maintenance and other related activities alongside our works teams. This will include on site learning on the following, traffic management, laying and repair of surfacing, pipework, ducting, signage and vehicle restraint barrier works. This is in addition to providing support to our Neighbourhood Services teams, technical staff and the local communities.
Shortlisted candidates will be selected through an interview process including evidencing GCSE grade C/4 or above, or equivalent, in Maths and English and be able to fulfil the physical requirements of the role which will include working outdoors in all weathers.
You will be enrolled in a Level 2 Highways Maintenance Skilled Operative apprenticeship on a periodic release basis. This will require attendance at the training centre or our designated Apprenticeship Supplier, necessitating periods away from home of a week at a time. During this time, you will acquire the essential knowledge, skills, and behaviours of a proficient Highways Maintenance Operative
