L4 Housing Options Apprentice

Job Introduction

Housing Options Apprenticeship (Level 4)

  • Are you passionate about our local community?
  • Do you have the integrity to stand up for people in crisis, supporting them on their journey to a safe and secure home?
  • Can you hold space for all members of our community, treating them with respect, seeing them on their own terms and helping them to find their own strengths?
  • Can you innovate out of the box ideas to help people solve their housing difficulties?
  • Are you ready for an apprenticeship you can be proud of?

BCP Council's Housing Options Team wants to talk to you about how you can make a difference to the lives of people in our community who are homeless or facing homelessness. Could your lived experience help some of the most vulnerable members of our community?

Supported by a rigorous internal training programme which will teach you both practical skills in supporting people experiencing homelessness as well as a robust introduction to homelessness law; our apprenticeship programme consists of five initial placements of three months within the Housing Options Team, each equipping you with the skills you need to assess, prevent and relieve homelessness. You will also be working with people experiencing rough sleeping and complex single homelessness cases while supporting families and individuals who are in temporary accommodation.

Focusing on your future job aspirations, following the initial five placements there will also be opportunity to work in the wider housing team including resettlement of refugees, allocations and temporary accommodation.

We take our commitment to continuous professional development seriously: you will benefit from regular and meaningfully formative observations, and you will be supported by person-centred and strengths-focused learning plans at each stage of your development.

We take pride in the fact our apprenticeship programme offers you, the next generation of housing professionals, a robust and well-rounded understanding of the delivery of homelessness services; and offers a route to a CIH-approved level four qualification in Housing.

If you are ready to step up and make a difference to the lives of vulnerable people in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole, apply to become part of our apprenticeship programme today!

Our Benefits

We offer an excellent benefits package to colleagues. Find out more on our website

As a result of the creation of BCP Council in 2019, we are working on simplifying our terms and conditions of service and will be creating a single pay structure which is to be applicable for all employees. It is important to us that we offer benefits that our colleagues value as part of their total employment package and we are reviewing these to make sure we have it right. We are in the process of establishing a timescale for implementation and colleagues joining us will be included in these changes. This is expected to be in place in 2024.
