Job Introduction
As part of Delta, Education Trust, The Quay School’s vision is“Learning together in pursuit of happiness”. This means we really care whether students love or hate their learning, so we work hard to create a space where students learn together to become knowledgeable, self-aware, independent and happy people who make a positive difference, wherever life takes them. Are you an enthusiastic individual who can bring this vision to life and make a real difference to children’s lives?
Our Learning Mentors work alongside our Class Teachers, a bit like Teaching Assistants……… but even more awesome.
This is why you’re awesome:
- Your friends say you are the kindest person they know
- Stressful situations are a part of life, but you’re the one that stays calm
- Resilient – As Chumbawamba once said “I get knocked down, but I get up again”
- Empathic – It’s because you understand how others feel and why they behave in certain ways.
- We don’t expect you to know everything, but you’re enthusiastic to learn so that you can be the best you.
- Self-awareness - Knowing how you are feeling and how this can impact others is so important for you to meet the needs of our students and having this awareness is what makes you special.
- And while all of the above is about you, the most important thing is that you understand it’s really all about the students.
Louis has struggled to attend school for years. Thanks to his Learning Mentor, Louis developed ways of learning and emotional regulation, helping him to keep up with and exceed his peers. Louis is thriving right now, loving his Apprenticeship and positively engaging in his work experience with a local employer.
