Job Introduction
From 1 December 2025, our refreshed Pay and Reward package comes into effect, bringing a new approach to how we recognise and reward roles across the Council. This means the salary for this role will be changing. The pay range for this role will be £33,699 - £39,152 p.a. effective from 1 December 2025.

Help shape the future of Poole Museum!
We’re looking for a proactive, people-focused Operations Manager to join us on a fixed-term journey as we reimagine Poole Museum as a vibrant, welcoming cultural space for all.
This is a fantastic opportunity to take the lead on day-to-day operations, support creative programming, and help deliver a high-quality experience to a wide range of users — all while contributing to the museum’s financial sustainability and community impact.
Main Responsibilities
- Managing the smooth running of the museum and its Grade 1 & Grade 2 heritage listed estate, ensuring safety, efficiency, and a great experience for all.
- Supporting a small team of assistants and volunteers, managing their development and wellbeing.
- Supporting enterprise activities including events, activities, retail and donations — helping to grow income and engagement.
- Delivering operational projects and maintaining high standards across all public-facing areas.
- Playing an active role in the team rota, including alternate weekends.
The Ideal Candidate
- Experience in venue or operations management, ideally in a public or cultural setting.
- Strong organisational and management skills, with a hands-on approach.
- Exceptional attention to detail
- A customer-first mindset and a passion for creating welcoming spaces.
- Confidence in managing financial transactions and using digital systems.
- A collaborative spirit and a drive to make things happen.
