Job Introduction
From 1 December 2025, our refreshed Pay and Reward package comes into effect, bringing a new approach to how we recognise and reward roles across the Council. This means the salary for this role will be changing.
The pay range for this role will be £33,699 - £39,152 p.a. - for apprentices this will be paid at 80% (pro rata for part time colleagues) from 1 December 2025.

The job role
To provide professional legal support and assistance to the lawyers and senior lawyers within BCP Councils legal services. While the role will primarily be supporting the Planning, Property and Environment Team, flexibility to assist other teams is essential. The successful applicant will also be responsible for managing a caseload under supervision.
Main Responsibilities
Draft and advise on legal documents in the relevant field of law
Prepare reports and submit applications as required
Draft and advise on legal agreements relevant to the team for which you are providing support
Provide administrative support, including submitting applications, conducting searches, and other administrative tasks as needed
The Ideal Candidate
Qualifications and Experience
Option 1 -Paralegal Route
- CILEX Level 3 Certificate in Law and Practice (or equivalent); or
- Extensive proven experience in property, conveyancing, contracts, and planning matters
Option 2: Solicitor Apprentice Route
Applicants must hold one of the following:
- A minimum 2:2 Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree; or
- A minimum 2:2 degree in a non-law subject, plus a pass in an English law conversion course (e.g., PGDL or GDL)
Note: The qualifying law degree or conversion course must not have been completed before January 2021
