An opportunity has arisen for a Plumber-Water Hygiene Engineer working for Bournemouth Building & Maintenance Ltd (BBML).
BBML is a BCP Council owned trading company which provides building services solely to the council. BBML employs its own workforce under BBML terms and conditions. BBML provides professional maintenance and construction services within the local area, undertaking planned and responsive maintenance for BCP Council’s owned housing stock and corporate properties.
We are looking an experienced Plumber or Water Hygiene Engineer within our Gas and Plumbing Team.
You would work alongside other trades on a project coordinating your work with other trades as scheduled by our planning team.
Job Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and dedicated Water Hygiene Testing Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting water hygiene testing to ensure compliance with health and safety standards. You will play a key part in assessing water quality, identifying potential hazards, and providing recommendations for improving water safety.
Key Responsibilities:
* Perform routine water quality tests on samples from various sources (e.g., Potable Water Systems, Communal Stored Water Systems, ETC) to ensure compliance with regulatory and company standards.
* Record and report findings in a clear, concise manner, ensuring data accuracy and timely submission of test results.
* Maintain accurate and organized testing logs and reports for internal tracking and compliance purposes.
* Identify potential risks related to waterborne pathogens or poor water quality and recommend corrective actions.
* Collaborate with other departments, such as maintenance and safety, to implement water hygiene improvements.
* Stay updated on relevant industry standards, regulations, and best practices related to water hygiene and testing.
* Ensure Water Hygiene Risk Assessments and associated recommendations and testing regimes are being adhered to.
* Provide training or guidance to staff on water hygiene best practices and testing procedures as needed.
Qualifications:
* Previous experience in water hygiene testing, water quality management, or a related field is preferred.
* Knowledge of water testing procedures.
* Familiarity with relevant regulations, such as the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) guidelines, water hygiene standards, and industry best practices.
* Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to generate reports and explain findings clearly.
* Ability to use water testing equipment and software for data collection and analysis.
* Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing water quality issues.
Preferred Skills:
* Experience with risk assessments or audits in a water hygiene context.
* Knowledge of the latest water hygiene technologies and testing methodologies.
* Knowledge and experience of working on Plumbing Systems.
Physical Requirements:
* Ability to perform field-based testing, which may include lifting or carrying equipment and samples.
