Project Manager

Job Introduction

BCP Council have a vacancy for a Project Manager (fixed term 12 months) and are looking for applicants with a good practical knowledge to join our team focussing on transformation and change projects to achieve a new organisational design. 

As this project role will specifically be focused on supporting and co-ordinating the development of services to council housing tenants and leaseholders, previous relevant experience of these areas would be beneficial. The postholder will work across a range of teams that deliver these services and directly manage projects within this area.

Main Responsibilities

The successful applicant will have responsibility for managing and leading projects within our Housing and Communities directorate. You will be expected to coordinate project demands and manage expectations across a wide range of stakeholders, being able to really drive project delivery is imperative. 

  • You will use established systems to track key project metrics, benefits, budgets, risks and highlight variances and trends in order to manage and control project progress and ensure effective governance of projects.

 

  • Provide advice and subject matter expertise in project approaches, so that projects are delivered in accordance with techniques and best practice.

 

  • Plan and carry out regular project quality reviews in order to identify, assess and take action to mitigate risks to project success.

 

  • Communicate and liaise with internal and external stakeholders to help them understand project objectives and progress.

The Ideal Candidate

You will be a natural collaborator and work well with a range of stakeholders at all levels to deliver projects successfully. Through your career you will have shown how you can have real impact using both tried and tested methods, but also willing to problem solve and innovate to get the best results. You will be an excellent communicator, highly organised and have the ability to think critically and innovatively. 

  • Degree or equivalent specialist experience in service area or relevant discipline.

 

  • Relevant project management qualification, e.g. PRINCE2 or equivalent.

 

  • Knowledge of project management methodologies.

 

  • Knowledge of local authority housing, including a general, broader understanding of the public sector and the issues that it faces (including knowledge of local government structures and partnerships.

 

  • Experience of managing projects and project teams.

 

  • Ability to communicate clearly and persuasively with a range of stakeholders.

 

  • Ability to analyse and present information including statistical data and prepare reports.

 

  • Ability to direct project teams and supervise the quality of outputs.
