We have an excellent opportunity to join our join our dedicated and supportive team as a Residential Support Worker.
April Court is a Residential Care Home for Adults with Learning Disabilities. The friendly and committed team at April Court are passionate about ensuring our residents are supported to maintain their individuality. Due to the provision of personal care, our clients have the right to request a carer of a specific sex. This vacancy is restricted for women only.
As a Residential Support Worker you will be working directly with our residents to support them in all aspects of their daily lives, personal care, accessing and engaging with the community, maintaining effective personal relationships, following personal plans and assessments.
You should have the skills and qualities that ensure the residents can play a part in their local community to engage in a positive and fun packed way. You will be supporting each individual to have a great quality, fulfilled life meeting their aspirations and enabling them to reach their outcomes and supporting them to make choices through a person-centred approach.
Working within the Gold Standards Framework you will ensure quality care, collaboration with others and maintain a professional approach to your role at all times.
What you’ll do
- Provide care and support that promotes client choice and independence.
- Undertake personal care duties as required including manual handling.
- Work to required standards to comply with CQC guidelines.
- Maintain dignity, privacy and respect for our clients.
- The ability to work flexibly across the week, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
You should have:
- NVQ/QCF Level 2 Certificate or be prepared to work towards a qualification.
- Knowledge and awareness of Care Act 2014 and Safeguarding legislation.
- A working knowledge of CQC standards and the single assessment framework.
- A good level of communication and an understanding of the communication methods that individuals may use such as Makaton, basic sign languages and other individual methods.
- A current valid driving licence with the ability to drive a 7 seater large MPV and/or an automatic 7 seater car service vehicle.
Hours are part time, and you will be required to work during the week, weekends, evenings and bank holidays as part of a fixed four-week repeating rota. Post 1 – average of 25.6 hours per week; Post 2 - average of 26 hrs per week; Post 3 - average of 21.2 hours per week.
