Starting salary for this role is £34,434  (pro rata for part-time colleagues) 

This role sits within a well defined pay band, offering clear progression as you grow your career at BCP. Without exception all new starters begin at the entry point of the band, ensuring fairness and consistency across the organisation. Our Seafront Service is responsible for the management and development of our beautiful, world‑renowned coastline, and we are looking for enthusiastic, effective, and committed Catering Supervisors to join our Seafront Catering Team.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the day‑to‑day operation and success of two fantastic seafront cafés, each offering a unique setting and customer experience.


Our Locations

Pierview Kitchen Bournemouth
 Recently refurbished and perfectly positioned at the heart of Pier Approach Bournemouth, this busy café is a vibrant destination for residents and visitors alike.

PierView Kitchen Boscombe
Located close to Boscombe Pier, this café benefits from stunning coastal surroundings and includes an on‑site function room available for private hire, adding variety to the role and opportunities for event
support.

 

As a Catering Supervisor, you will support the smooth running of the cafés by:

  • Providing excellent customer service
  • Supervising staff and daily operations
  • Supporting food safety, quality, and cleanliness standards
  • Helping create a welcoming, professional environment for customers and colleagues

Accountabilities

  • Review current catering offer, preparing and implementing proposals to develop and improve the service in a profitable manner.
  • Suggest changes and improvements to working practices to maximise service quality, efficiency and continuity.
  • Manage staffing levels effectively so that there are appropriate staff numbers and staff can meet the needs and expectations of customers. This includes recruiting and training staff so that they understand the service levels expected and the processes they must follow, arranging rotas, and prioritising activities.
  • Implement and monitor stock control systems and procedures so that stock is managed appropriately to minimise waste and excess cost.
  • Make sure health & safety and food safety documentation, practices and procedures are maintained and updated so that the catering service is compliant with all regulatory and safety requirements.
  • Plan and agree menus with the Cook to ensure a nutritious and appetising provision of meals for customers. Menus will need to be in line with the catering policies and guidelines, seasonal availability, defined costs, and meet dietary needs and preferences of customers.
  • Resolve complex and contentious operational and customer issues, to ensure that a good service is delivered to customers.
  • Monitor agreed budgets and performance against cost improvement targets, to support the effective financial management of the service. This includes ensuring that all financial records are maintained in line with financial requirements and preparing reports on financial performance.
  • Monitor contracts and contractor performance, and build effective working relationships with external providers, to ensure quality of service delivery and value for money.

 

Knowledge / Skills / Experience required

  • NVQ 4 Hospitality Supervision or equivalent experience.
  • Personal Alcohol Licence – desirable but not essential
  • Food Hygiene Certificate Level 2.
  • Thorough knowledge of food safety and health and safety requirements.
  • Experience of managing catering operations.
  • Experience of managing staff.
  • Ability to plan and manage workload and activities for self and others.
  • Ability to persuade and influence based on knowledge, experience and data.

 

Dimensions of role

  • This role manages a team of catering staff.
  • This role will monitor budgets and work to cost targets.
  • Planning focus is the forthcoming weeks and months.


The role requires to work in the evenings and some unsociable hours as well as working weekends and bank holidays. No holiday is to be taken in July & August.
