Seafront Cleansing Supervisor (Beach Cleansing Operative)

Role Purpose

You will be required to supervise and maintain the cleanliness of BCP’s beaches and associated infrastructure to the standards needed to attain the international Blue Flag and national Seaside Awards administered by Keep Britain Tidy. This is a physical but rewarding role suited to candidates who can commit to early morning shifts and those who hold a full, valid driving license.

Main Responsibilities

An essential part of this rewarding role will be to lead a team of Cleansing Assistants to deliver the standards expected by our visitors and beach users. This includes keeping the beaches and surrounding areas tidy of litter, debris and foliage, correct disposal of contaminants and dangerous objects, as well as clearing of access routes, paths, promenades and excess sand deposits. The dynamic nature of the role means a flexible approach is crucial. This includes providing cover as necessary. Please refer to the attached Job Description for further details.

The Ideal Candidate

If you are passionate about the local environment and the community benefits it provides, then an exciting opportunity exists for you with BCP Council Seafront Operations. We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated person to work along Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Seafront, as part of our Seafront Cleansing Team, maintaining the cleanliness of our beaches, seafront and surrounding areas. A confident communicator, with an eye for detail and a passion for our outdoor spaces, you will work independently and proactively to ensure that cleansing related issues are dealt with in an appropriate and timely manner. Enthusiasm and commitment to customer care and providing a safe, clean and inclusive seafront is essential. You will be an integral member of the Seafront Operations Team ensuring Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole is a great place to live, work and visit.

The successful applicant will work in shifts covering up to 5 days in 7, including early mornings, some Bank Holidays and weekends on a 37 hours per week basis. The applicant will also be expected to work outdoors for the majority of each shift in order to carry out their duties.

This is a permanent, full-time position open for application. Holding a fully valid, UK driver’s license is essential. Applications that do not meet this essential criterion will not be considered.
