Sessional Worker (Casual)

Job Introduction

Learn more in our More than just a job’ brochure on our careers site.

The BCP Council Short Breaks Team are recruiting sessional workers to join their fun, creative and diverse team. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals who have experience of working with children and young people with SEND, or who are keen to develop their skills and further their personal or professional development.

BCP Council Short Breaks Service runs an activity programme for children and young people with SEND, during term time in the evenings and during school holidays. The services support those aged 0-25, through activities and a youth club for the young people as they progress towards adulthood. As the contract is casual, it provides flexible working hours for successful candidates who may have other jobs or are in further education. Staff share their availability prior to the delivery of a programme and are then allocated shifts. Ideally, we ask that staff be available for a minimum of 4 hours per school holiday period.

We offer good rates of pay, training opportunities, staff meetings and 1:1 staff supervision. This ensures that our staff feel confident in their roles, supporting them to provide a safe and high-quality service to the children and young people we support.

We use external providers to lead sessions but also lead in house sessions at various venues across BCP. Have removed the rest of the paragraph.

There is an expectation for sessional workers to travel to various locations across BCP for the delivery of activities. Support with travel costs are available. There is also opportunity for other types of sessional work during term time and holiday periods, in 1:1 direct work with children and young people or families in the community.

This service supports children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. We would welcome applications from people who have experience of working with children with SEND.

If you would like an informal discussion to understand the role, please contact Jenni Robinson or Nicola Balson on 01202 126222.

Please note, this role is not eligible for visa sponsorship and we can only consider applicants with existing right to work in the UK.
