Job Introduction


We are excited to announce we are looking for three new Shared Lives Officers (x2 permanent and 1x fixed term contract 2 years) to join our ever-growing service.

 

BCP Shared Lives Scheme provides an alternative to care, support and accommodation for adults with additional needs, such as a learning disability, autism and dementia. The scheme relies on dedicated Shared Lives Carers throughout the BCP area, who open their homes and lives either on a long-or short-term basis to provide care and support to adults and young people.

 

Our scheme is a lively and fun service to be part of it is constantly evolving and new officers would need to be able to work flexibly in all aspects of the service, no two days are ever the same. We are looking for people who are supportive, positive and clear communicators, dedicated and willing to offer thoughts and ideas to develop the service. You must be skilled in problem solving and able to manage shifting priorities as part of your workload. You will need to be able to form close and supportive relationships with our cares and those they care for and understand the challenges faced when caring in your own home.

As a Shared Lives Officer you will be responsible for:

  • Recruiting, assessing, monitoring and maintaining a case load of carers, offering advice and solutions to everyday issues.
  • Weekly matching of referrals to carers, objectively considering needs and preferences with available carers.
  • Work alongside the Registered Manager to ensure the scheme is delivering a high quality service within the standards and regulations identified by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). 
  • Work in conjunction with internal and external stakeholders including carers, clients, family members and other professionals involved in clients care plans.
  • Visiting people in their own homes and a variety of community settings.

 

We are looking for people experienced in;

  • Working with adults with additional needs.
  • Problem solving in a changing environment.
  • Undertaking and monitoring assessments.
  • Working in adult social care.
  • Working in a proactive and close-knit team where developing ideas is essential
