The pay range for this role will be £28,142 - £31,537 (pro rata for part time colleagues)

Main Purpose
- To maintain and enhance the estate with an emphasis on the care and development of horticultural features.
- To assist with management of habitats, wildlife and carry out general maintenance tasks to a high standard.
- To actively support day to day site operations, undertaking and actioning routine site safety checks, emergency responses, facility management, event and activity preparations.
- To supervise and develop on site volunteers, apprentices and work placements.
- To participate in a 7-day, core hour working rota to ensure site presence, public safety and enjoyment of the Country Park and House.
- To build positive relationships with managers, staff, stakeholders, partners, service providers and customers.
- To ensure the security of UCP and its contents, including the operating of alarm systems and opening and closing tasks.
Main Responsibilities:
- Maintain and improve the formal Regency Pleasure Grounds and horticultural features including the Walled Garden, Herbaceous borders, Winter Garden.
- Assist with the wider site work programmes including management of habitats, wildlife and general estate maintenance tasks.
- Supervise and develop volunteer groups, apprentices and work placements, providing guidance, training and horticultural advice as appropriate.
- Actively participate in the UCP rota to ensure and oversee the smooth daily running of Upton Country Park and House. Assist and manage the response to any on site emergency (including if necessary liaising with external services), carry out safety inspections/checks and repair/report faults and incidents and updating H&S documentation as required
- Assist and support staff, stakeholders, operational enterprises, events and contractors in the day-to-day operation of all UCP facilities.
- Maintain the outdoor structures, play equipment, water features, Pay & Display machines and other equipment/fixtures and update H&S documentation relating to these and for example, chemical storage, ladders checks, etc, carrying out daily/ weekly site checks and car park patrols as required.
- Ensure UCP fleet vehicles and equipment are maintained, services/repaired as and when required.
- Ensure work carried out by contractors, volunteer groups etc. are carried out to specification and to a high standard, i.e. 'fit for purpose' on projects within designated site.
- Patrol UCP, providing a high-quality customer focused service through advice and information whilst also encouraging visitors to behave in a responsible manner and obey relevant byelaws and codes of practice.
- Undertake and maintain written or computerised records of management work, wildlife sightings, basic tree survey, site inspections and other activities / events as required and use Council IT systems.
- Assist, as appropriate, in the preparation of interpretative materials, including the recording of management work and events.
- Assist, as appropriate, with bookings, weddings, events and activities including the giving of practical demonstrations of estate skills, conducting guided walks/slide talks and assisting with educational activities.
- Procure goods, equipment and services in line with standing orders to meet agreed specification and standards, ensuring accurate records are maintained and financial regulation met.
- To assist in liaising with contactors, service providers and colleagues; issuing work instructions/work orders and monitoring performance in relation to specification, work programmes and health & safety and/or best practise.
- Deputise for the Operations Officer as and when required.
- To work towards the Council's vision, objectives and core values.
- To undertake any other duties or necessary training as required and commensurate with the level of the post.
- To comply with all decisions, policies and standing orders of the Council and any relevant statutory requirements, including Equal Opportunities legislation, the Health and Safety at Work Act and Data Protection Act.
- To ensure security of UCP and its contents, including the operating of alarm systems, key holding and opening and closing tasks.
