Job Introduction
Role Purpose
The Dorset Combined Youth Justice Service (YJS) is looking for a full time Youth Justice Activities Coordinator to join our stable and supportive team.
Main Responsibilities
The role includes recruitment, training and supervision of our volunteers and development of constructive activity opportunities for young people. The appointee will focus on enabling children to participate in the development of our service, to help them build on their strengths and develop a positive identity. The role will also involve linking with our community resource and education workers, to fit constructive activities alongside our activities for repairing harm and for employability.
Based in Dorchester you will join a multi-agency team of skilled and motivated professionals. The ethos of our team is "child first" and all staff have been trained in trauma informed practice and restorative principles.
The Ideal Candidate
Our ideal candidate will be creative, resourceful, supportive and will have a genuine desire to work with children to help them shape positive futures. You will have experience of working with and engaging children and young people, the ability to co-ordinate and supervise the work of others to build public confidence, and to make Youth Justice Service volunteering opportunities accessible to diverse sections of the community. This includes developing and maintaining links with community organisations and charities to enable children to feel part of and contribute to their community.
You will be educated to a degree level or have Level 3 qualification in Youth Justice or equivalent experience and will have worked in a setting that is relevant to youth justice. Access to training and continued professional development will be available to the successful candidate
