Do you want to work at an exciting and diverse heritage site? Do you want to be part of the team who shapes Highcliffe Castle’s future? Then please read on, as this may be the job for you.

Highcliffe Castle is a fascinating Grade 1 listed building located on the south coast. The Castle suffered two severe fires in the 1960s, following this in the early 1990s the Castle started a ten-phase restoration plan to partially restore this magnificent building. Today the Castle is owned and operated by BCP Council and this post will be funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund as part of Phase Seven of the project.

The successful candidate will bring energy and captivating ideas to a well-established team, which needs support in growing the Castle’s current visitor experience and progressing it on to the next level; this will enable us to continue to deliver the Lottery Funding objectives and expand the visitor offering further, to ensure the Castle has a bright future for generations to come.

You will be passionate about customer service and be able to implement positive changes that increase visitor numbers inside the Castle and to the wider grounds too. You will be ready to work in a busy and fast-paced, working environment in the peak summer season and then develop a new range of visitor engagement activities for the quieter shoulder months, this visitor programme will need to appeal to the local community and to new visitors across the BCP Council area.

This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone who has previous experience in the heritage sector or who has worked in a similar environment. It is a challenging but highly satisfying role, and we look forward to receiving your application.

All applications are to be submitted via the Council job site.
