We are seeking to recruit a dynamic, practical Visitor Services Assistant with excellent customer care skills to join the Front of House team at the Russell-Cotes Art Gallery and Museum in Bournemouth.

The Russell-Cotes is a spectacular Victorian villa on Bournemouth’s East Cliff, with a collection of extraordinary art and treasures from around the world.

Your role provides the safe and smooth running of front of house and visitor operations. You will be good at thinking on your feet, responding to emergencies and issues as they arise, including responsibility for conducting emergency evacuations. You will be a part of the keyholder team, ensuring the safe unlock and lockup of the building, and responding to out of hours emergencies.

You will be someone who delights in engaging with our visitors, with the skills to supervise and motivate staff and volunteers. You will assist with hanging exhibitions, as well as setting up and supervising events. You will also need to be computer literate, confident using an electronic till system, and willing to help problem-solve when technical issues arise.

A significant part of the role is to look after this special place, undertaking museum security and monitoring environmental conditions. In this unique historic building with complex needs you will be responsible for facilities management, including basic maintenance, cleaning and conservation; escalating building issues; escorting engineers, and providing engineer access to the building.

This is a permanent role of 37 hours a week. The job holder will work one weekend day a week, and a share of Bank Holidays and occasional evenings.

If this sounds like an inspiring challenge, then we would love to hear from you.
