We are now recruiting Social Workers to join our Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Children and Young People’s Social Care Services.

Within Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole, Children’s Services are aiming to provide the ‘right help at the right time’, and continuity, stability and the best quality care for the children we work with. Partnership working across the Council and with other agencies is a particular strength for us. You will work alongside an established senior management team that is accessible, visible and supportive, and with colleagues who are committed to best practice which improves children’s lives.

Due to career advancement both within and out of the area, along with our continued investment in children’s social work, we are currently recruiting Social Workers to join a high performing and forward looking service to work within Children and Young People's Social Care.

Children in the Care of the Local Authority

We are looking for social workers with a passion for giving our children and young people in care the best opportunities to thrive and develop their potential. Working with children up to the age of 16, you will hold a caseload of children placed in a mix of in-house and independent fostering agencies and, very rarely, in specialist residential provision.

We are proud to provide a very high proportion of placement via our own foster carers who therefore benefit from our well-developed multi-agency support services provided by our local health and education colleagues.

We currently have vacancies in our Bournemouth Area Team for qualified social workers.

If you would like to know more about the opportunities available, then please contact Victoria Stone on 01202 456832 or email victoria.stone3@bcpcouncil.gov.uk

Assessment & Action

Gaining an understanding a child’s circumstances within their family in a short period of time then developing and supporting a plan to make a positive difference is challenging enough. However, if this type of challenging and stimulating environment, where no two days are the same, appeals - then we’d like to hear from you.

We are implementing the Signs of Safety practice framework, which is already bringing additional clarity and focus to our assessment work. We are very keen to keep pushing ahead with the changes that we know are going to keep improving the way we work with families and therefore make the job more satisfying and rewarding for practitioners.

We currently have vacancies in both our Poole and Bournemouth Area Teams for qualified social workers.

If you would like to know more about the opportunities available, then please contact Lindsay Balch on 01202 735046 (Switchboard) or email l.balch@bcpcouncil.gov.uk

Fostering

We have a long track record of providing good quality placements for our children in care and are very proud that we can provide such a strong and reliable offer. If you are interested in the recruitment, training and support to foster carers then we would really like to hear from you.

We currently have a vacancy in our Bournemouth Area Team for a qualified social worker.

If you would like to find out more about what it is like to work in our Fostering Service please contact Rubina Payne on 01202 456755 or rubina.payne@bcpcouncil.gov.uk

MASH our Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub

Our MASH is the front door to Children & Young People’s Safeguarding Services for the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole areas and is based at Poole Police station, alongside other multi agency professionals.

Successful candidates will join an experienced team led by able and supportive management and will benefit from ongoing opportunities for learning and career enhancement.

We currently have a vacancy in this team for a qualified social worker.

For more information about working in the MASH Team please contact Lucy Birchwood on 01202 262491 or 01202 262490 or lucy.birchwood@bcpcouncil.gov.uk.

We also have vacancies in other front line teams, so please do apply, using the generic application process, and take the opportunity to discuss with us a great future in social work with us at Bournemouth, Christchurch & Poole Council.

Discretionary relocation expenses are available of up to £8,000 for experienced candidate(s) to support their relocation to the area.

Returning to Practice? If you are an experienced qualified social worker seeking to return to practice, and are not currently HCPC registered, we may be able to offer you an opportunity to meet the HCPC requirements for supervised practice and study in order to gain your registration. To discuss further please contact Annie Draper Workforce Development Manager on 01202 714620.

As an employer we are proud of our commitment to supporting and supervising our social workers, maintaining manageable caseloads and promoting a good work/life balance. We believe our commitment to continuous professional development cannot be faulted. We have an excellent and well established ASYE programme in place, and a full and diverse range of training opportunities for all our staff as they develop and progress their professional careers.

We have strong links with Bournemouth University as members of the Pan Dorset and Wiltshire Teaching Partnership, and are able to offer post-qualifying formal CPD opportunities to staff who have completed their ASYE and are looking to extended their specialist knowledge and skills, or who are experienced social workers who wish to extend their professional practice through Practice Education.

This authority is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of the community and expects all staff and volunteers to share the same commitment. Applicants to this post will be required to complete the appropriate level of Disclosure & Barring Service Check. Please refer to the Person Specification for more details.
