We are now recruiting Social Workers to join our Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Children and Young People’s Social Care Services.

Within Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole, Children’s Services are aiming to provide the ‘right help at the right time’, and continuity, stability and the best quality care for the children we work with. Partnership working across the Council and with other agencies is a particular strength for us. You will work alongside an established senior management team that is accessible, visible and supportive, and with colleagues who are committed to best practice which improves children’s lives.

Due to career advancement both within and out of the area, along with our continued investment in children’s social work, we are currently recruiting Social Workers to join a high performing and forward looking service to work within Children and Young People's Social Care.

Children in the Care of the Local Authority

We are looking for social workers with a passion for giving our children and young people in care the best opportunities to thrive and develop their potential. Working with children up to the age of 16, you will hold a caseload of children placed in a mix of in-house and independent fostering agencies and, very rarely, in specialist residential provision.

We are proud to provide a very high proportion of placement via our own foster carers who therefore benefit from our well-developed multi-agency support services provided by our local health and education colleagues.

Assessment & Action

Gaining an understanding a child’s circumstances within their family in a short period of time then developing and supporting a plan to make a positive difference is challenging enough. However, if this type of challenging and stimulating environment, where no two days are the same, appeals - then we’d like to hear from you.

We are implementing the Signs of Safety practice framework, which is already bringing additional clarity and focus to our assessment work. We are very keen to keep pushing ahead with the changes that we know are going to keep improving the way we work with families and therefore make the job more satisfying and rewarding for practitioners.

MASH our Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub

Our MASH is the front door to Children & Young People’s Safeguarding Services for the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole areas and is based at Poole Police station, alongside other multi agency professionals.

Successful candidates will join an experienced team led by able and supportive management and will benefit from ongoing opportunities for learning and career enhancement.
