The Quay School is a progressive educational establishment that supports young people through difficult times in their lives. Our different sites provide for very different needs and we are currently looking to employ an instructor to teach an outdoor education focused curriculum for 11-16 year olds. Based in Poole, Dorset, the schools location provides us with a wide range of excellent nearby locations for climbing, abseiling, stand up paddleboarding, mountain biking, coasteering and more. The students you will be working with have been excluded from mainstream school or are at risk of permanent exclusion and have behavioural, emotional and social issues.
The Quay School takes great care to recruit the very best people so that the services we provide are outstanding. We believe that the best work gets done in an environment that's enjoyable and which values, supports and encourages the development of its employees. In return we expect our employees to work hard and be committed to help us achieve our vision and share our values.
We are looking for an instructor with a particular interest in teaching the most vulnerable students; including those with behavioural, emotional and social issues. The role will involve leading, planning and developing ‘out-of-the-classroom’ learning within the Quay School using a wide range of outdoor activities.
The successful applicant will be a highly motivated and flexible individual who can form positive relationships with students with a wide range of special needs in order to make a difference for some of the most vulnerable adolescents across Poole and surrounding areas.
We are looking for someone who holds at least 3 relevant NGB’s (BCU Level 2, SPA, ML, British Cycling MTB Leader etc). Teaching/youth work qualifications would be desirable, as well as a D1 entitlement and experience working with students of this nature.
Please contact Joe Curtis (Assistant Headteacher) firstname.lastname@example.org for more information and to arrange a tour.
This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share the same commitment. Please ensure a full work history is completed in your application form including any gaps of employment. Applicants to this post will be required to complete a Disclosure & Barring Service Check.
