Number of positions: 1
Hours: 37 hours per week
Contract: Fixed Term until 31/10/2027
Location: Family Hub based, working across hub network sites

We are excited to invite applications for the newly established role of Best Start Outreach Worker as part of the development of our Best Start Family Hubs programme.

This is an exciting opportunity to support families with babies and children aged 0-5 years, helping to ensure they can access the services, advice and support they need during their child's earliest and most important years of development. Working across Family Hub sites, community venues and family homes, Best Start Outreach Workers will play a vital role in engaging families who may be less likely to access support, building trusted relationships and helping children get the very best start in life.

The role sits at the heart of the Department for Education's Best Start Family Hubs programme and is centred on relationship-based practice, community engagement and early intervention. You will work directly with families with young children, providing information, advice and guidance, supporting families to identify their strengths and needs, and helping them to navigate and access the right support at the right time. This may include support relating to parenting, child development, health, education and wider family wellbeing.

We are looking for enthusiastic, compassionate and motivated individuals who are passionate about improving outcomes for babies, young children and their families. You will have experience of working directly with children and families, excellent communication and engagement skills, and a commitment to reducing inequalities and supporting families to overcome barriers to accessing services.

Successful applicants will contribute to outreach activities, home visiting, family support, group delivery and community engagement activities, helping to ensure Best Start Family Hubs are welcoming, inclusive and accessible to all families with children under five. This is a unique opportunity to help shape a new service and make a meaningful difference to children and families across BCP.

If you are passionate about supporting babies, young children and their families, building strong community connections and helping families access support at the earliest opportunity, this could be an exciting opportunity to join an evolving service and play a key role in delivering the Best Start vision across BCP.

Proposed interview dates: 22 and 23 October 2026

Please note, this role is not eligible for visa sponsorship and we can only consider applicants with existing right to work in the UK.
