Job Introduction
BCP Council Adult Social Commissioning for Disabilities is seeking a highly motivated Commissioning Manager to join their team for a fixed period of six months initially with the potential option to extend up to one year.
Role Purpose
This post will be working to support the commissioning requirements of people with care and support needs that primarily focus on learning disabilities. Ranging from low level support in the community to people with complex care and support needs.
Main Responsibilities
The team are responsible for commissioning a broad range of services from residential and supported living to day opportunities, housing related support, community-based services and advocacy.
This post will have a primary focus in working with the senior commissioning officer on retendering the community-based care and support framework. They will work with the commissioning officer and housing colleagues on the Strategic Housing plan to support people with learning disabilities to access appropriate housing and support in their communities.
They will also support and contribute to the Learning Disability Partnership Board and its strategic activity.
The post is required to manage a senior commissioning officer and commissioning officer as part of their role.
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be educated to a degree level or have significant experience in the commissioning field. Have experience in one or more of the primary support needs detailed in this advert. Have a passion for partnership working and co-production and ideally, a good level of experience working directly with providers in relevant markets to achieve sustainable, outcome based, value for money services.
This post has management responsibility so relevant experience would be an advantage but is not essential.
You will be working in a supportive management and learning environment. There will be opportunities to attend wider meetings, webinars and training to further develop your knowledge and skills in the commissioning and social care sector.

As a result of the creation of BCP Council in 2019, we are working on simplifying our terms and conditions of service and will be creating a single pay structure which is to be applicable for all employees.
