BCP Council Adult Social Care have an exciting opportunity for a commissioning project officer post with a specific focus on disabilities.
The role is focused on improving the quality of life for the people of Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole by supporting the accessibility and development of appropriate housing options for adults with learning disabilities or autism. We want to ensure that commissioned services promote positive outcomes and improve the health and wellbeing of those receiving support.
The post will support the delivery of key projects in relation to the commissioning of services for people with learning disabilities and or autism. To achieve this, the post will be involved in commissioning and service development work which will support the effective delivery of projects and commissioning related activities.
The post holder will work with commissioning managers and support the development of an improved housing offer for adults with learning disabilities and or autism. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who wants to develop their skills and knowledge in the area of commissioning.
The post holder will work with the commissioning manager to identify opportunities for future service provision, by liaising with all stakeholders and promoting joint working and innovation.
The post is currently being recruited to on a 1 year fixed term contract and will be line managed within the Disabilities Commissioning Team.
As a commissioning officer, you will be expected to manage your time and workload effectively, show attention to detail and an ability to develop appropriate solutions to challenges in your area of work. You need to have confidence to engage positively and at times lead meetings, develop strong partnership working opportunities and be able to communicate with a wide variety of audiences.
Whilst this is a commissioning role, previous experience is not essential, but you should have a desire to learn and develop your skills in this area, having experience of working on projects and an understanding of project management. Experience of working with vulnerable adults with disabilities would be a preferred option.
You will be working in a supportive management and learning environment. There will be opportunities to attend wider meetings, webinars and training to further develop your knowledge and skills in the commissioning and social care sector.
