Community Support Assistant

Job Introduction

We have a great opportunity to join our team as a Community Support Assistant.

The Community Support team provides housing related support to individuals living in supported accommodation. The service assists people to maintain their independence within the community, thus preventing loss of their home or tenancy and/or otherwise unnecessary use of more institutional forms of care by supporting individuals to gain, re-learn or maintain life skills in order to carry out their own day to day tasks, such as cooking, cleaning, laundry, budgeting and paperwork.   

We are seeking candidates who have a genuine wish to make people’s lives better by actively supporting our clients in a person-centred way.  You should be a strong team player with a positive attitude and a flexible approach. 

Your main responsibilities will include: 

  • Supporting individuals in a way that maintains dignity, respect, and privacy. 
  • Undertaking housing related support as required, which will include administration support. 
  • Providing individuals with guidance with life skills to maintain independent living. 
  • Encouraging individuals to access primary health care services when required. 
  • Supporting and enabling people to attend further education, training or enter full or part time voluntary or paid employment. 
  • Supporting people with aspects of their personal care, as identified within individuals care and support plans. 
  • Meeting with client for regular support, planning and review sessions.

The successful candidate should have:

  • The ability to follow care plans and instructions.
  • Understanding of the CQC Fundamental Standards and the Care Act 2014.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work unsupervised as well as part of a team.
  • IT skills with the ability to maintain accurate records.
  • NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care or willingness to achieve this.
  • A full UK driving licence, with access to own vehicle to travel to clients’ homes.

Full-time – 37 hours per week
