This means the salary for this role will be changing. The pay range for this role will be £47,181 - £53,460 p.a. effective from 1 December 2025.

Consultant Occupational Therapist

Are you an experienced Occupational Therapist ready to take the next step in your career? BCP Council is seeking a dedicated Consultant Occupational Therapist to serve as a Senior Officer, driving forward professional development and supporting the Occupational Therapy agenda across our services.

As a Consultant Occupational Therapist within our ASC Workforce Development Team, you’ll play a vital role in advancing professional practice and development across the council and wider area. This is a permanent position, advertised at 30 hours —though we warmly welcome applications from those seeking different hours. You’ll contribute to strategic initiatives, support the Occupational Therapy agenda, and collaborate with colleagues to deliver high-quality, evidence-based learning and development.

In this role, you will work closely with the Principal Occupational Therapist, who will provide strategic guidance and oversight to ensure alignment with professional standards and service priorities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support and develop professional practice for OTs and OT Assistants
  • Design and deliver bespoke training, workshops, and CPD programmes
  • Coordinate and quality assure the OT Apprenticeship Programme
  • Contribute to strategic workforce initiatives including competency frameworks and preceptorships
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to foster a culture of continuous learning
  • Represent BCP Council at relevant meetings and forums

About the Role

In this senior officer capacity, you’ll play a key role in enhancing the quality and consistency of Occupational Therapy practice. You’ll support practitioners at all levels, ensuring training and development are aligned with current legislation, policy, and best practice.

What You’ll Bring

  • A recognised professional qualification (e.g. Occupational Therapist, Nurse, Physiotherapist)
  • Registration with a relevant regulatory body (e.g. HCPC)
  • Experience in adult social care and OT professional agendas
  • Strong facilitation and communication skills
  • Ability to manage priorities and work independently
  • A creative, solution-focused approach

Additional Requirements

  • Enhanced DBS check
  • Willingness to undertake relevant training
  • Ability to travel across BCP Council and the wider area (valid UK driving licence and access to a car preferred)
