Job Introduction
Two Family Support Practitioners in the Children and Families First Service
Within BCP we have an exciting opportunity to develop a new support service for both adults and children who are affected by drug and alcohol use, which is underpinned by the government’s drug strategy.
The role will sit within Children’s Services, however practitioners will work closely alongside the commissioned drug and alcohol service and adult social care, including the Parental Substance Misuse Coordinator. We are looking for individuals who are flexible, creative and supportive in the development of the new service.
We are looking for individuals with experience or an interest in working with children and their families who are experiencing challenges with drugs and alcohol.
Family Support Practitioner - Drug & Alcohol Adult (37 hrs)
This role will support the adult family members to recognise the impact of drug and alcohol use upon on themselves and their family and engage in positive change. The role will seek to undertake referrals and support engagement with the commissioned drug and alcohol service (We Are With You). The post holder will use motivational interviewing techniques to support adults with the change cycle. The post holder will support with drug testing, risk assessment and consultation with other professionals around drug and alcohol use where required.
Family Support Practitioner - Drug & Alcohol Childrens (22 hrs)
This role will work with children under 11 years of age and their parent/carers to support them with the impact of any drug and alcohol misuse in their family (e.g. using individual strengths to problem solve, managing emotions and coping mechanisms . The role is to work in close partnership with other professionals, i.e. WAWY, education, carers, social workers to help support cease the potential cycle of generational substance misuse.
The flexibility of hours can be agreed with the successful candidate.
