Income Maximisation & Compliance Officer

Job Introduction

Role Purpose

We are seeking to appoint enthusiastic and self-motivated individuals to join a new team. You will be part of the Corporate Income & Compliance Team, helping to maximise the Councils revenue stream. Through proactive and reactive casework, you will ensure compliance with Council Tax premiums, reductions and discounts.


Main Responsibilities

  • Respond to internal and external Data Protection requests for information.
  • To extract, upload and analyse data sets.
  • Gather, record and analyse intelligence logically and make objective decisions
  • Liaise with internal and external departments.
  • Carry out proactive & reactive counter fraud and compliance work to prescribed standards.
  • Conduct formal and informal interviews.
  • To effectively deal with conflict and difficult / vulnerable situations
  • Identify fraud and error, making recommendations on appropriate further action.
  • To make decisions for Council Tax, Non Domestic rates, Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support in accordance with procedures, guidelines and legislation.
  • To prepare court bundles and present cases at Tribunal or Court.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Are you self-motivated and enthusiastic?
  • Do you have good IT skills?
  • Are you able to communicate confidently with people from different backgrounds and organisations?
  • Do you have an inquisitive nature and excellent attention to detail?
  • Are you an organised and methodical person?
  • Are you able to work to deadlines and use your initiative?
  • Do you like a challenge?
  • Experience in Council Tax or Benefit legislation would be an advantage but not essential.
  • Full clean driving licence & ability to travel around the BCP area.
  • DBS required.
