Leisure Assistants - BCP Rossmore Leisure Centre

Job Introduction

From 1 December 2025, our refreshed Pay and Reward package comes into effect, bringing a new approach to how we recognise and reward roles across the Council. This means the salary for this role will be changing. The pay range for this role will be £24,309 - £26,824 p.a. (pro rata for part-time) from 1 December 2025.   There will be no pay protection for any new employees to BCP Council after the date of this advert.

Role Purpose

  • working on a 3 week rota from 5.00am starts to 22.45 finish times 
  • To lifeguard all pool activities in accordance with Royal Lifesaving Society guidance.
  • Ensure equipment is set up safely and in a timely manner for customer use.
  • Assist throughout the day in ensuring the leisure facilities remain clean.
  • To be constantly vigilant with regards to any Health and Safety issues.
  • To provide non specialist coaching following a predetermined programme

Main Responsibilities

The role of Leisure Assistant is a busy and varying role with lots of challenges. You will have many responsibilities that range from managing the day to day set up of the activities to lifeguarding. This role can be physically demanding at times, but is very rewarding too.


The Ideal Candidate

It is essential for the role that you hold an up-to-date RLSS NPLQ or equivalent (the equivalent must include first aid or you must have a separate first aid certificate)- should your application be received without clearly noting an appropriate qualification, the application will be rejected. 

Knowledge of health and safety would also be desirable.

You will be required to work a variety of shifts between the hours of 05.00 and 22:45, across 7 days a week.

BCP Leisure operates a range of sites across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole.
