Are you someone who is passionate about making a difference to the lives of people facing multiple disadvantage?
Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole (BCP) has been accepted onto the Making Every Adult Matter (MEAM) Network 2024-2026, a national initiative supporting local areas to improve services and personal outcomes for individuals facing multiple disadvantage—such as poverty, poor health, homelessness, substance misuse, neurodiversity and contact with the criminal justice system.
The associated stigma and prejudice of multiple disadvantage can see people falling through the gaps between services and systems, making it harder for them to address their problems, achieve their potential and lead fulfilling lives. MEAM aims to tackle these issues through taking a trauma-informed, co-production approach to these individuals and promoting system change so that services are better equipped to meet the needs of these individuals.
This is a 2-year fixed term contract role as part of our the Housing, Health and Social Care Team .
We offer hybrid working arrangements, with the majority of your time spent working alongside our frontline housing teams in and out of the office.
About the role:
As our MEAM Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in designing and delivering better-coordinated services for individuals facing challenges such as homelessness, substance misuse, and interactions with the criminal justice system. You will model and share best practice, working closely with local agencies to bring about systemic change across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole. Work with key stakeholders in co-producing innovative approaches with people with lived experience is a priority for this role.
Key Responsibilities include
- Work with system partners to establish BCP’s MEAM pilot programme.
- Support the implementation of an effective and robust structure of governance and director-level input across services.
- Influence at a strategic level to effect system change.
- Champion equitable practice and challenge stigmatising and oppressive practice
- Work with system partners to support BCP’s first MEAM cohort
- Support frontline practitioners in implementing the MEAM approach and facilitate training to help system partners embed learning
- Collect, analyse and manage data that contributes to system change and commissioning
- Capture learning from the lived experience of people facing multiple disadvantage through co-production
- Collate and analyse learning to identify potential barriers to accessing services for our cohort - for example around eligibility criteria or approach.
- Negotiate between partners to flex boundaries, test new ways of working and deliver creative options and better outcomes for people
- Provide progress reports, learning and evaluation to the MEAM Steering group bi-monthly and other governance boards as required.
- Attend training and network forums available through MEAM, bringing back good practice from other areas to support operational learning and improvements in BCP.
Specific Qualifications and Experience
- 'A' level or equivalent qualification and/or relevant experience within a homelessness or similar service delivering support to people experiencing multiple disadvantage.
- Experience of, and commitment to, co-production with people with lived experience and frontline professionals
