Job Introduction
From 1 December 2025, our refreshed Pay and Reward package comes into effect, bringing a new approach to how we recognise and reward roles across the Council. This means the salary for this role will be changing. The pay range for this role will be £33,699 to £39,152 (pro rata for part time colleagues) from 1 December 2025.

An opportunity has arisen for a Parks and Grounds Supervisor (Housing) within Environmental Services.
You will be taking responsibility for the daily operational management of up to 8 teams carrying out all aspects of planned and un-planned grounds maintenance across all BCP Homes housing stock including Sheltered, General Needs, HMO’s and other housing assets.
Being the first point of contact for all Housing Grounds Maintenance related enquiries you will be an excellent communicator at all levels including Elected Members and stakeholders and will represent the service at management meetings.
Key Duties:
- Supervise and monitor the workflow of the operational team to ensure work is delivered to defined service standards and processes are properly implemented.
- Plan, allocate, and coordinate operational activities to manage workflow and resources efficiently demonstrating flexibility to changing demands.
- Resolve operational issues, make evidence-based decisions, and provide technical guidance and support to the team.
- Support recruitment, training, inductions, and performance management activities for the team, challenging unhelpful behaviour.
- Contribute to service planning and development by quantifying and scoping potential works, including collating costs and tender information.
- Maintain accurate records and prepare reports relating to service activity, performance, and issues.
- Represent the service unit at meetings with internal and external stakeholders to maintain effective working relationships.
- Manage customer contact using relevant systems, interpret customer information, ensuring responses are accurate and timely.
- Update asset records and work schedules using the appropriate IT systems.
- Deputise for the Operations (Parks) Team Managers.
- Undertake investigations into employment matters, collating evidence, conducting interviews, and preparing and presenting information at hearings.
- Undertake compliance and welfare checks.
Having experience in working in a similar environment and supervising a large team within the sector you will have experience of using computerised administration systems based on Microsoft packages with sound knowledge of database input.
Having a positive approach, you will be able to adapt, prioritise and work under pressure to ensure SLA’s are exceeded.
