Principal Registrar

Job Introduction

BCP Council is ambitious and visionary in its commitment to be a 21st century council. We are looking for a committed and enthusiastic individual to take up the statutory post of Principle Registrar, working with the Superintendent Registrar, Head of Service and Business Operations Manager to help provide a high-quality service that deals with some of the most important life events of our customers going forward.

The role will consist of working 5 days a week (37 hours) plus the opportunity to cover weekend weddings on a rota basis.

You will have excellent communication skills, have proven strong administration skills with an eye for detail, be articulate and work effectively and efficiently under pressure but will also be able to recognise the sensitive nature of the role having empathy and patience when dealing with customers and stakeholders. You will have an in-depth knowledge of all aspects of the Registration Service as well as having a sound business awareness and be commercially minded. You will be creative and innovative with a diplomatic and tactful approach towards problem solving and should be a team player who as part of the team and through training will help to develop and embed new processes.

You will be responsible and accountable for secure stock in your custody. You will  ensure the relevant statutory function of births, deaths, stillbirths, marriages and civil partnership registrations are carried out as per the Registrar General’s guidelines; as well as taking notices of marriages and civil partnerships, conducting and registering marriage/civil partnership ceremonies, taking part in citizenship ceremonies and any other associated registration duties which are to be delivered, monitored and well-managed, in accordance with current legislation. Registration experience essential.

You must hold a full and valid driving licence.
