Role Purpose

Do you have recent experience of recruiting and supporting volunteers?

If yes, this could be the role for you.


This is a new role within the Community Initiatives Team.

Volunteers will be recruited to support low risk households, with tailored support around basic needs, such as budgeting, cooking and cleaning; helping to retain tenancies, reduce turnover and support households to maintain their homes.

Main Responsibilities

  • Assist with supporting the recruitment and supporting of volunteer mentors
  • Assist with volunteer training and supervision of the volunteers.
  • Assist with matching volunteers with mentees, based on needs, strengths, and preferences, ensuring safe and effective practice.
  • Assist with monitoring mentoring relationships, collect feedback, and evaluate project impact.
  • Assist with the record keeping, monitoring and support the smooth running of the project.
  • Build strong relationships with volunteers, ensuring they feel valued, supported, and confident in their mentoring role.
  • Work collaboratively with local partners, community groups, and internal teams to raise awareness of the project. 
  • Help shape the project processes, and approaches as the project grows.


The Ideal Candidate

Our ideal candidate will have or will be:-

  • An enthusiastic team player who is also confident working independently
  • Passionate about volunteering and have recent experience of recruiting and supporting volunteers.
  • Experience of partnership working
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, be empathetic, approachable and be able to communicate effectively with people from all backgrounds and at all levels.
  • Ability to use own initiative
  • Good IT skills – to include MS Office
  • Organised and have attention to detail.
  • Basic knowledge and an interest in public sector and private sector housing.
  • A flexible attitude to work.
  • Able to travel to locations around the BCP Council area.

This is a full-time role, however 30-32 hrs per week, Tuesday-Friday, would be considered for a suitable candidate.
