Job Introduction
From 1 December 2025, our refreshed Pay and Reward package comes into effect, bringing a new approach to how we recognise and reward roles across the Council. This means the salary for this role will be changing. The pay range for this role will be £14.13 – £15.31 per hour from 1 December 2025 (and pay protection will not apply)

To promote fairness and consistency, all new starters will begin at the bottom of the pay band. This reflects our commitment to equity across the organisation and aligns with the approach taken with existing staff during the transition. BCP Leisure is proud of its multi-award winning leisure facilities which serves communities across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole.
Our membership base is strong and drives our passion for development and continual improvement of the service.
The leisure centres offer a vast range of fitness classes each week, modern and well-maintained fitness suites and a range of pool based activities.
We are looking for passionate individuals to join our team of cover instructors, particularly those who are qualified to deliver Les Mills classes.
Depending on the skills, experience and rapport built with our customers, there may also upcoming opportunities to take on classes on a permanent basis.
Role Purpose
- To deliver a safe, well planned, fun and engaging fitness classes.
- This position is for instructors delivering aerobics classes, particularly Les Mills. Our current fitness timetable can be found here: (https://www.bcpleisure.co.uk/)
Main Responsibilities
- Teaching a ad-hoc fitness class to a groups of mixed ability customers
- Monitoring participants to ensure their safety.
- Arriving in plenty of time to allow for set up of music/equipment and communication with participants
- Ensuring all preparation is carried out in advance of the session to deliver a well-planned fitness class.
- Liaising with other members of the Leisure Centre Team where necessary.
The Ideal Candidate
- Hold a minimum of Level 2 qualification in discipline
- Les Mills is desirable
- Energetic & motivated with a genuine passion for fitness
- Details of knowledge/skills/experience from the role profile or criteria from job description/person specification
- A DBS check will be performed. A criminal record will not necessarily exclude a candidate.
