The pay range for this role will be £26,403 – £28,142 (pro rata for part time colleagues)

We are currently looking to recruit 2 x Grounds Maintenance Operatives to join our team undertaking a wide variety of duties within our 9 Cemeteries, 4 closed churchyards and 2 crematoria across the BCP conurbation. You will be part of an ambitious, successful team providing residents and visitors with high quality, customer focussed, respectful & sensitive Grounds Maintenance services.
The successful applicants will be carrying out a wide range of Grounds Maintenance and Horticultural activities including grass cutting, strimming, hedgecutting and weed spraying ensuring our Cemeteries are maintained to the highest standards.
Assisting with grave backfilling is also within the scope of this role.
You will ideally already have Grounds Maintenance experience and a willingness to undertake continuous professional and personal development .
A full driving licence is also essential requirement of the role.
Main Responsibilities
- Perform pre-determined basic routine grounds maintenance and cleansing tasks as instructed to deliver a safe, clean, and accessible environment
- Assisting with the setting up and taking down of equipment as instructed and help prepare sites for events and activities so that sites are fit for purpose.
- Drive and operate departmental vehicles and operate hand-held and pedestrian machinery such as strimmers, blowers, hedge-cutters and pedestrian mowers as required.
- Carry out necessary checks of equipment and facilities to ensure safety and cleanliness, escalating any issues as required.
- Respond to simple enquiries or questions from members of the public so that they have a positive experience, reporting issues where necessary.
The Ideal Candidate
- NVQ Level 1 in Landscaping, Horticulture, or a related area, or equivalent knowledge and experience.
- Driving licence, plus relevant NPTC/LANTRA machinery operation certification as required. Pesticide application qualification (PA1, PA6) may also be required for certain roles.
- Experience in delivering general grounds maintenance related tasks and operating relevant machinery.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with team members and members of the public.
- Ability to follow instructions to deliver allocated and defined tasks.
