School Business Manager

We are looking for a School Business Manager to play a key role in the leadership of the school. Reporting to the Headteacher and CFO, you will work closely with the Senior Leadership Team to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the school's administration, HR, finance, premises, and compliance.


Key Responsibilities

  • Office & Administration: Lead the office and admin teams to ensure efficient day-to-day operations. Develop and optimise use of the school MIS and other systems.
  • HR & Payroll: Manage recruitment, staff contracts, HR policies, and payroll information.
  • Financial Management: Oversee daily financial operations including budgeting, credit control, and resource management.
  • Compliance & Governance: Ensure the school meets all statutory and safeguarding requirements, including Health & Safety.
  • Line Management: Supervise Catering, Maintenance, Transport, and outsourced IT support.
  • Events & Clubs: Support and develop school events, fundraising initiatives, and holiday clubs.

About You

We are looking for a passionate and capable professional who:

  • Has experience in financial and business management (ideally within a school setting).
  • Understands VAT, credit control, and accounts payable.
  • Has HR and payroll management experience.
  • Is confident in managing resources and ensuring compliance.
  • Possesses excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Is a hands-on team player who thrives in a collaborative and caring environment.
  • Has strong IT and systems skills. Experience with ISAMS and QuickBooks is an advantage (training provided).
