Role Purpose
To provide operational support to the day-to-day seafront operations to ensure that the seafront environment is safe and clean and that the public receive a good customer service. The role will operate with close supervision and clear instructions, undertaking one of a wide range jobs that are highly proceduralised and repetitive in nature. The areas of work typically include: catering, beach furniture hire, mini-golf, arcade, pier toll, cliff lift guard, landtrain guard, kidzone, resort information, or cleansing.
Accountabilities
  • Provide a helpful and courteous service to all customers, including answering and assisting with general enquiries from the public, to ensure that the public receive a good customer service when visiting the seafront.
  • Handle customer transactions accurately and in line with strictly defined procedures so that monies are processed correctly. This typically involves issuing tickets, collecting money, providing appropriate change, and issuing receipts.
  • Set-up equipment and lay-out goods as instructed and required, so that the service can be delivered and customers can see the goods available.
  • Operate straightforward equipment and machinery in accordance with tightly defined procedures and processes, to deliver services in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Undertake cleaning tasks to ensure that the seafront environs are clean, safe, and presentable.


The Ideal Candidate

If you are passionate about the local environment and the community benefits it provides, then an exciting opportunity exists for you with BCP Council Seafront Operations.  We are looking for enthusiastic, self-motivated, and experienced people to join our Seafront Team. A disposition to promote high standards of customer care and communication skills is essential for this post. You will be an integral member of the Seafront Operations Team ensuring Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole is a great place to live, work and visit.

Shift patterns are varied by location, covering up to 5 days in 7 including some Bank Holidays and weekends.  Available shifts are: 8am-8pm with a 4-days on, 4-days off pattern or 37 hours per week over 5 days. The applicant will also be expected to work outdoors for most of each shift in order to carry out their duties.

Holding a fully valid, UK driver’s license would be advantageous for this role but is not essential.
