General Assistant- Holiday Club Leaders

Job Introduction

Role Purpose

  • To provide high quality, safe and engaging holiday club activities for children aged 5 to 13 years old
  • Set up and deliver various sport activities to children as per the prescribed program. This could include fun introductions to football, hockey, basketball, table tennis, gymnastics, dance, dodgeball etc.
  • Provide supervision and pastoral care to the children- this would include supervision during lunch, ensuring wearing appropriate clothes etc. 
  • To be constantly vigilant with regards to any Health and Safety issues.

This is a great opportunity to be a part of a growing team. The successful candidate should have availability during school holidays, Monday to Friday. The shift is typically 08:30-16:15.

Main Responsibilities

The role of General Assistant is a role with a lot of responsibility that range from setting up and packing away equipment, briefing and overseeing the activities as part of the Holiday Club program, including motivating and engaging the children to participate in a fun and enjoyable way. 

Ensuring safety of the children on the Holiday Club activity, including pastoral responsibilities such as directing children to the changing rooms and toilets, overseeing lunch. Potentially reminding children to take medication as prescribed. 

The Ideal Candidate

Would ideally have experience in working with 5-13 year olds in a similar capacity, who are positive, enthusiastic and confident. 

It would be desirable to hold a current and valid first aid certificate and have knowledge of safeguarding and Health & Safety.

Be available to work 08:30-16:15, Monday to Friday during school holidays. There are a team of Holiday Club Leaders so shifts are allocated based on availability and the best skills and experience for the activities to be delivered that day.
